Pediatric Clinic

The mission of the Pediatric Clinic is to remain committed to providing excellent care and compassionate service in response to the needs of the military families. It is our vision that the LRMC Pediatric Clinic is the first choice for pediatric health care for European DOD beneficiaries.

The Patient Centered Medical Home partners the patient with their Primary Care Clinician and medical team which includes nurses, technicians and other support staff. The Primary Care Clinician can be selected or changed through the TRICARE Service Support Center in Building 3744. The medical team will empower patients to make informed decisions regarding their own treatment. While this relationship between the patient and the health care team is the heart of the Medical Home, patients also have the ability to seek second opinions within or outside the LRMC Pediatric Clinic or request specialty care. The medical team will even help coordinate this care by obtaining and tracking referrals.

In the Patient Centered Medical Home, you share responsibility for your health. We encourage you to take an active role by asking questions, participating in the decisions that affect your child's health, and proactively communicating with your team when you receive care outside of your Medical Home.

We are committed to expanding patients' access to care. Building on the traditional face-to-face office visit, we offer a broad range of access options to include:

Well Child Guidance

  • Regular health maintenance visits with your Primary Care Team are the best way to promote your child's health.
  • We recommend routine well visits for all infants/children at 2 weeks of age, 2 months, 4 months, 6 months, 9 months, 12 months, 15 months, 18 months, 24 months and then yearly until age 18 years.
  • Sports Physicals are required for school sports, CDC enrollment and CYS after-school activities. Physicals must be updated yearly and can be done at the same time as your routine well visit.
  • Patients with chronic health issues such as ADHD and Asthma should be seen more frequently for routine care-- often twice yearly to quarterly depending on severity of the condition. Please consult your Primary Care Provider for further guidance if needed.
  • If your child is due for a routine well visit, please call or visit TRICARE Online and schedule an appointment. Plan ahead! The further in advance that you schedule; the more likely the desired day and time will be available.

Sick Child Guidance

  • Seizures (Place the child on floor, on his/her side. Do not put anything in child's mouth)
  • Trouble breathing
  • Turning blue, purple, or gray
  • Head injury with loss of consciousness (black out), or amnesia (can't remember anything), or has persistent vomiting
  • Loss of consciousness or unresponsiveness
  • Uncontrolled bleeding
  • Accidental ingestion of harmful substance, call local poison control center (bring whatever they ingested with you)
  • Bloody stools or bloody or bilious (green) vomiting
  • Allergic reaction with trouble breathing or swollen tongue or lips
  • Newborn with fever greater than 100.4, difficulty awakening, or poor feeding
Reasons to go to ER if clinic is closed:
  • Fever greater than 104° F
  • Significant abdominal pain
  • Newborn with new onset or worsening jaundice
  • No urine output for greater than 6 hours
  • Persistent fever of 101° F longer than 5 days (if child is older than 2 months)
  • Otitis Media (Ear Infection or Ear Pain); may give Motrin overnight
  • Conjunctivitis (Pink Eye) discharge from eyes, eye redness; may wipe clean overnight
  • Head injury with no loss of consciousness and no persistent vomiting
  • Cough that lasts longer than 2 weeks or a productive cough (coughing up phlegm) with fever for any length of time (try humidified air)
  • Medication refill (if Telephone Consult is not available)
  • Non-bloody vomiting for more than 3 days
  • Uncontrolled seasonal allergies
  • Other NEW Acute concerns that are a change from the patient's normal health status
  • For any child over 2 months:
    • Temperature greater than 101° F for less than 5 days
    • Temperature less than 101°F
  • Runny nose, unless concerned about uncontrolled seasonal allergies
  • Dry cough for less than 2 weeks
  • Non-bloodynon-bilious (green) vomiting for less than 3 days
  • Fever in the first 48 hours of antibiotic treatment

** If you take your child to an emergency room or receive care outside of your Medical Home, contact your Medical Home team as soon as possible. Keeping your child's health care team informed helps the team coordinate your child's care and ensure your family gets the follow-up needed.
