Landstuhl Germany Fisher House Mission
The two Landstuhl Fisher Houses provide a "home away from home" for families and patients receiving medical care at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center, Landstuhl, Germany. Families served are from the US European Command, US Central Command, US Special Operations Command, US Africa Command and the 72 Embassies in Europe, Africa, and the Middle East. As of today, we are proud to have supported over 25,000 families of which more than 3,000 have come from Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF-Afghanistan) or Operation New Dawn (formerly OIF). We are also proud to say we have assisted 27 coalition countries in their families' time of need.
Landstuhl Germany Fisher House Eligibility & Cost
Landstuhl Fisher Houses prioritize their rooms according to the severity of the medical situation. All active duty, retired military, and their military dependents, who live at least 50 miles away from the hospital are eligible. In order to serve our families in crisis, we are unable to take reservations. Referrals can be made one week in advance by your medical care team. Confirmation is provided one business day prior to arrival. There is no charge to stay at the Fisher House and demand for our rooms are high; because of this, families are encouraged to have a backup plan in the event we are unable to assist. Please note, we are not an emergency service, and do not operate 24 hours. Our business hours are Monday – Friday 7:30 a.m. - 4 p.m. and close on weekends and all US Federal Holidays.
Landstuhl Germany Fisher House Hospital Info
Landstuhl Regional Medical Center (LRMC) is the largest American hospital outside of the United States, and the only American tertiary hospital in Europe. It is a fully accredited health care facility which serves approximately 100,000 primary care beneficiaries, and 245,000 total beneficiaries in the European Command. As of January 2004, LRMC has treated more than 58,000 servicemembers and civilians, which include DOD civilians, contractors, and coalition servicemembers from 44 countries. LRMC's specialties include Hematology/Oncology, Pediatric Cardiology, Rheumatology, Burn Stabilization, Neurosurgery, Ultrasound/CAT Scan, Addiction Treatment Facility, Neonatal Intensive Care, and Magnetic Resonance Imaging. The Family Assistance Center is available to help families who come from the USA on orders and military ID holders.
LRMC has a Dining Hall, Burger King, Subway, and Java Cafe Coffee/Sandwich Shop for meals. There is a Shoppette, gas station, bank, and post office in the complex.
Landstuhl Germany Fisher House Information
Landstuhl Fisher Houses (LFH) I and II are both located across the street from the hospital. The two houses provide a total of 18 rooms with private bathrooms, TV/DVD and telephone. There are four rooms with a shared bath in order to accommodate the large number of families who need the services of the LFH. The houses each have a large living room, dining room and kitchen; these common areas are shared by all the families. The LFH will provide most amenities to include toiletries, towels, linens, highchairs, booster seats, futons, bassinets, and 'pack and plays'. Families are responsible for their own meals and the kitchen is well furnished with the items needed for food preparation. Each family will have some refrigerator space and freezer space plus a cabinet for their food. Laundry area and detergent are provided.
Childcare is NOT provided by the Fisher House.
Landstuhl Germany Fisher House Travel Information
We are located in the southwest area of Germany 1.5 hours south of Frankfurt airport. The airport and train station are co-located. Take the train to "Landstuhl" and then take a taxi from the train station to the Fisher House (US Hospital).
- Please make sure to get a taxi that has on-base/post privileges.
- Rental cars are available at the airport from all major companies.

Landstuhl Germany Fisher House Donations
The Landstuhl Fisher Houses receive a significant portion of their funding through charitable contributions. The donation goal is $ 300K; individuals, organizations, spouses' clubs, military organizations, and chapel-designated offerings contribute to this total. The Landstuhl Fisher Houses operate as Nonappropriated Fund Instrumentalities of the United States. We fit the criteria for not-for-profit status defined in 26 United States Code, Section 501 (c)(1).
