VA Benefits Delivery at Discharge Office

The Benefits Delivery at Discharge (BDD) Partnered Mission

The Benefits Delivery at Discharge (BDD) Intake Office in Landstuhl, Germany, processes pre-discharge disability compensation claims from active-duty service members stationed in Europe, Africa, and the Middle East. Service members must be within 180 – 90 days of their effective separation or retirement date and must be available to attend all necessary examinations in the location from which they are separating.

You may be eligible to participate in the BDD Program if you must meet all the requirements.

All of these must be true:

  • You have a known separation date
  • Your separation date is in the next 180 to 90 days
  • You’re available to attend VA exams for 45 days from the date you submitted your claim
  • You provide a copy of your service treatment records (STRs) for your current period of service.
  • You provide a Separation Health Assessment (SHA) Part A form.

How to Start a BDD Claim:

Service members should submit a complete BDD packet (application, STRs, and SHA Part A) online using VA.govIf you're unable to submit an online disability application (VA Form 21-526ez) using VA.gov, you can complete the PDF version of the application and submit it along with the required supporting evidence (STRs and SHA Part A) via Quick Submit.
To ensure you are completing the most recent version of VA Form 21-526EZ (Application for Disability Compensation and Related Compensation Benefits), the form should only be downloaded from VA.gov.
